Honey, I Shrunk the School!

Everitt Middle School math teachers and students are teaming up to scale proportions. Based on the movie "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" they hang supersized objects in the hallway.    By; Quinn T.

What happened to our halls?

Students at Everitt middle school decorate the main hallway with large plants and creatures. The students in math class are learning about scaling. As you can see in the picture they scaled up small garden plants and creatures to regular human size. by Jack W.

Warren Tech Visit

At the warren tech field trip there were many attractions. They had a very big auto and motorcycle programs. Warren is small college that juniors and seniors can attend as well as kids that have graduated high school. My favorite part of the trip was the culinary part or the program where u can get a degree to become a cook. We got to try some of the chefs creations and they were very good. This is definitely a field trip and student will enjoy. Sam C

Pledge or not?

The pledge of allegiance is both unconstitutional and discriminatory. It forces kids to stand up every day and devote their country to the Christian god. This is offensive to all non Christians and polarizingly against the secularity of the united states constitution. The pledge is unlawful brainwashing and should be removed from the school environment. Sam Y

Wheat Ridge HS Fashion students create redesign projects

Wheat Ridge Fashion Students were charged with creating a project using an old piece of clothes or fabric. The redesign showcased the students creativity, planning and ultimately walking away with a useful piece.

This is a rough draft of what I had in mind. I wanted to take a shirt and convert it into a cool bag - Mary B

I then cut the shirt into the general shape I wanted to use. Here is what the stitching looked like on the shirt/bag - Mary B

Here is the shirt on the outside, I cut off the sleeves to use them as the straps. I had to stitch them back on the shirt. Mary B

Here is my completed bag. It turned out better than I thought it was . It is big and holds a lot. Pretty Cool!

Day Without Hate

On April 29, my school participated in the epic Day Without Hate. Day Without Hate was created to bring awareness to the shootings and bullying that happens all over America. That day, we did several things to notice the bullying. We signed mirrors, that would make one mass mirror, we painted our hands white and put hand prints on the walls, to show that all of the students are going to take part to end hate in schools. Students even made posters that said things such as, "Don't Hate, Appreciate!" and other things that would constantly remind students, that, no matter what, hate is not the answer. Day Without Hate is a great day for schools, and was a huge success in mine.

Field Trip

Warren Tech

At the warren tech field trip there were many attractions. They had a very big auto and motorcycle programs. At the field trip there were many motorcycle and lawn mowing engines running and you could hear them all the way across the campus. Warren Tech also had a program where you can be a firefighter or a paramedic. They even had a firetruck and ambulance to simulate the emergencies of a real fire fighter and paramedic. Warren Tech is small college that juniors and seniors in high school can attend as well as kids that have graduated high school. My favorite part of the trip was the culinary part or the program where u can get a degree to become a cook. We got to try some of the chefs creations and they were very good. kids rapping

Today so many kids want to be rappers and want to be famous when there older but even if they cant they still think there really good and can make a living off of it. Some students like Sam Y. you would never think would or could rap but in realty are really good. Its kinda like the motto don't judge a book by its cover.

From a student: There are many stories i have the oppertunity to share, but what are the ones that truly mean something? Now that is the question i hope to answer. Something i have long dealt with is the fear of being afraid, or commonly known as panic attacks.

Ever since i was a child, i have woken up in the dead of the night it a horrible sweat. Sometimes it was from nothing but a slight cramp in my stomach, or the memories of a bad dream, none the less, it was a terrible experience. It seemed un-controllable, and many times, i often threw up, or missed much needed rest. For most my life, the night was a thing to be dreaded, because it seemed the times when i was most helpless and open to the attacks, panic at

Fear can manipulate the mind, but only if you let it. And if you do, it can play a physical affect as well. Several times my hands have felt frozen, and i was unable to move them. Oh how terrifying. To be paralized for moment, which seemed to drown on for hours, how terrifying.

Wheat Ridge area students share their stories

In an effort to show students in both high school and middle school the power of their hand held devices, cell phones, smart phones, iphones, droids, ... we challenged them to create stories on the fly using their devices. Photos, audio recordings, video and text can come together to create great stories about the students lives and events around them. It is an easy step to post these stories via text messages to a blog. Here you'll read the results of this experiment. End result, empowered students with a vehicle for their voice.
